XYZT - Accessing covariates for ecological modelers using point-based observational data

Summary

We propose a project for any-level level R programmer interested in taking occurrence data (i.e. date, lat, lon, etc.) and compiling matching environmental covariate data from multiple sources.

Specific Tasks

• Become familiar with sf (simple features) and stars (space time arrays) packages.
• Build a new R package to access an additional dataset not currently available with xyzt (possibly Copernicus)
• Test functionality with existing point/polygon based datasets (brought by participants?)
