How to integrate hawtio with LDAP?

Hi, I am trying to integrate hawtio with LDAP. I am using hawtio 2.17.0 and tomcat. I have tried this solution but it didn't work for me: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/36548510/failedloginexception-encountered-when-using-jaas-ldaploginmodule-to-authenticate?noredirect=1&lq=1

my catalina properties: -Dhawtio.authenticationEnabled=true -Dhawtio.authenticationContainerDiscoveryClasses= -Dhawtio.realm=ldap -Djava.security.auth.login.config=$CATALINA_HOME/conf/login.conf -Dhawtio.sessionTimeout=$HAWTIO_SESSION_TIMEOUT -Dhawtio.proxyAllowlist=* -Dendpoints.jolokia.sensitive=false

my login.conf file:
ldap { com.sun.security.auth.module.LdapLoginModule REQUIRED userProvider="ldap://ad-ldap.example.net:389/OU=North America,DC=example,DC=net" authIdentity="{USERNAME}@example.net" userFilter="(&(|(sAMAccountName={USERNAME})(userPrincipalName={USERNAME})(cn={USERNAME}))(objectClass=user))" useSSL=false debug=true; };

I am able to manually log into LDAP and find my user with the above search, but the last logs I see are:
[LdapLoginModule] authentication-first mode; SSL disabled [LdapLoginModule] user provider: ldap://example.net:389/OU=North America,DC=example,DC=net [LdapLoginModule] attempting to authenticate user: ilxyz [LdapLoginModule] searching for entry belonging to user: ilxyz [LdapLoginModule] authentication failed [LdapLoginModule] aborted authentication 17:20:55 WARN {http-nio-8090-exec-1} : Login failed due to: Cannot find user's LDAP entry
Any pointers?

figured it out, the userProvider url can't have spaces inside
