How can I thank a sponsor?

I received an email that a github user has sent me a one time sponsoring. The email contains the github handle of the sponsor. I would like to thank them, but I do not seem to find a way on how to send a thank you note.

GitHub doesn't have any private messaging, but within Sponsors you can send email updates to your Sponsors. This isn't a perfect solution because it will send an email to everyone in a tier, but if by chance they're the only ones in a tier it can work as a personal message.

I've heard of maintainers using the social media handles or email address listed on a sponsor's profile to reach out to them outside of GitHub. Of course, only do this if you feel comfortable.
