publishing step condition

Steps to reproduce

publishing:
    when:
       condition: app.branch == "master"
 google_play:
    credentials: $GCLOUD_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_CREDENTIALS
    track: internal

Expected results

It should be possible to set a condition for publishing the app.

Actual results

i get errors when setting a condition to the publishing step

Hey @CPRmichel,
Currently, the publishing section does not support conditional execution using when. Conditions like when are typically used for workflow-level or script execution but not within the publishing block itself. Whats your use-case here for checking the branch name before publishing? Can you please share more context? Also, you might want to check out using the Codemagic cli tool here if you want to have the check before publishing. Then you can have:

   script: |
       if [[ "$CM_BRANCH" == "master" ]]; then
       google-play bundles publish --bundle build/app/outputs/bundle/release/app-release.aab --track alpha
            else
            echo "Skipping publishing step as the branch is not master."
