Error: unknown command "migrate" for "authgear" on running docker on local machine

Hello there,

Recently I tried out the authgear docker tutorial at the link below:

Everything ran smoothly on the tutorial, but I encountered the database migration command error at the 2nd last step.

Updating certificates in /etc/ssl/certs...
0 added, 0 removed; done.
Running hooks in /etc/ca-certificates/update.d...
done.
Error: unknown command "migrate" for "authgear"
Run 'authgear --help' for usage.

Can anybody please help?

can you try again from the beginning of the doc and see if it works now?

Just remove everything last time and try again.

I encountered the following error during booting up the docker.

It looks like Authgear application cannot found the postgreSQL server within the network.

I noticed that in the tutorial, I am suggested to keep to default value as "localhost" / "127.0.0.1".

I replace those 127.0.0.1 / localhost to be the service name i.e. "redis" and "db". I can boot up the application normally.

Namely,
Redis URL: redis://localhost/1 => redis://redis/1
Redis URL for analytic: redis://localhost => redis://redis
Database URL, Audit Database URL: postgres://postgres:[email protected]:5432/postgres?sslmode=disable => postgres://postgres:postgres@db:5432/postgres?sslmode=disable

The error message is gone. And I can see the sign-up page now.

I am unsure whether taking "localhost" / or the service name as the default value is good for a getting started tutorial. What is your thought?

Yes, you're correct. The example should tell the reader to change the URLs instead of accepting the defaults. I have created an issue to track this. authgear/docs#152

After I set up the sign-in page and signup a user, I want to see the user list at the Authgear portal. I found that 'http://portal.localhost:8000' is inaccessible in my browser.

I need help accessing the portal. What additional setup do I need?

I am sorry that this tutorial does not cover how to set up the portal at the moment. This is now being tracked in authgear/docs#152.

In the meantime, we have a contributor guide https://github.com/authgear/authgear-server/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md#contributing-guide that covers the setup of the portal. However, it is not written in the context of using docker.
