General Authorable Tooltip

In DC pricing tables, there are tooltips in the UI design. We would like to introduce a feature in Milo for authors to create a custom tooltip anywhere.

GitHub markdown has the format to put a tooltip on any context text or icon.

This is a [hover text](## "my tooltip text") example.

It can be implemented similar to the placeholder feature. If the pattern of text string is found, decorate it as a tooltip.

All blocks can use the tooltip feature to make sure there is a consistent style.

Interesting idea James.

The authoring pattern would look the same as what markdown does?. Something like [hover text] (my tooltip text)?

Being a universal approach for all content/blocks would there need to be some sort of placement flag?

Hey James,

Ryan mentioned ticket this in our general meeting about table metadata.

But we were wondering if you could leverage the Milo alt text capacity.

So in Word, the display text has a | before the alt text like so:

And the link field would use the same convention as do not translate:

That example has dnt and tooltip, but you could also just have #_tooltip.

But we were trying to think of things that conform with what authors already do.
