Opening a scenario via a URL

One goal is to be able to have our VMS launch a scenario configuration in the user’s browser.

Chrome Incognito

When we open it via normal navigation in the web console, the URL looks something like this:
https://CAMERA_HOST/local/objectanalytics/index.html#/scenario/3
when we put in credentials, and open in cognito view to erase all previous authentication, using a URL like this:
https://username:password@CAMERA_HOST/local/objectanalytics/index.html#/scenario/3
It logs the user in, but presents this screen with a URL that removes the app and scenario info:

If we then paste the URL without credentials, it then lands on the page we want the user to be at:

The results were the same in a regular window without using cognito.

In Firefox

It hangs a bit on the scenario screen when you paste the 2nd URl without credentials after the first one. I tested without
using a private browsing window to be sure that private browsing wasn’t blocking anything; and the results were the
same. It appears that it can’t complete the loading of the page.

How do we get it to open the scenario in the browser while having it look correct to the user?

Does the 2 one Just Work because browser store the digest auth? Could you just verify, open normally the Cam and authenticate and then use the url without any auth. Just want know If it does not work when you try auth+url.

Let's be real, if someone is smart enough to configure video analytics, they're definitely smart enough to navigate to a specific scenario themselves. Setting up analytics is way more complex than just clicking a button or finding a URL.

Most VMS providers keep it simple: they just give you a button to open the browser with the right link, like the IP address.

I know you’re trying to make it easier, and that’s great—I’m all for simplifying things. But the only real option here is to build a basic UI, which of course comes with its own risks and extra work.

If we have to we can point to the scenario list. That does seem to work with credentials in the URL. However, our customers can do this for dozens of cameras. We're trying to reduce friction. Plus, even if they can do it, the risk of error rate goes up when they are doing this for many cameras, as they could be mapping the wrong scenario to the wrong outcomes in the VMS unless they are really paying close attention to which scenario they drill into.

@erik777 would not be the bust just remove the creds, so that user needs to enter it and vola, you could combine this with a password copy button in your vms. i do the same thing for our platform. So just using https://10.0.0.202/local/objectanalytics/index.html#/scenario/3 and user needs to enter the creds

@Cacsjep That is true. We don't want to require the user to enter camera credentials, which differ from their VMS credentials. Normally, we never ask our users to use the camera web console. Until this requirement, their interaction was only via our VMS system. This is an exception due to the complexity of reproducing creating and editing scenarios of Object Analytics and other ACAPs.

Ideally, we'd use VAPIX to obtain a token that we then provide in the URL. We are using VAPIX for quite a bit outside of scenario creation, such as pushing MQTT configuration and publishing filters, and ONVIF for certain things, too.

OK but when adding camera to vms, user need to enter the creds. Sounds for me that a user that should configure scenarios they are not had camera creds? Is this true
