In current AppImage version - is it possible to flag hard file links

I am finding many AppImages on appimagehub dot com that work fine on KDE Desktop but, if I try them on xcfe or Trinity Desktop they are missing library files.

Is there any way with the current AppImage version to continue execution and output all missing library files of a given AppImage ?

Hi @offternet. Cool, a Trinity Desktop user! Please keep in mind that AppImage is just a format for self-mounting disk images that execute whatever the author has put inside. As such, the same debugging techniques apply as if the appliation was shipped in another format. (This is a long winded way to say "not that I know of".)

However, if you install the dependencies listed on https://github.com/AppImageCommunity/pkg2appimage/blob/master/excludelist you should be able to run most AppImages.

Then you need to bundle everything like go-appimage can do with its -s deploy option.

Both the previous Linuxdeployqt and go-appimage you reference are tools configured for qt based distros and do not work for my yad gtk2 / webitgtk4 based Debian systems (or at least I have failed to get them to work).

Gtk and WebkitGtk4 can be rather complicated indeed (it would not hurt to ask their upstream developers to make bundling easier). I have recently done it "by hand" for a WebkitGtk4 based application, quite some "hacks" were needed but in the end it worked:

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I researched all that you have mentioned in both my posts and the only question that comes to mind is about your statement: "AppImage is just a format for self-mounting disk images". Do you know the specifics of exactly how AppImage is mounted ? Is it a mounted in a RAM DRIVE or under /tmp or something else ? TIA

It is mounted inside /tmp using FUSE.
