Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
#3042 listed a few new API endpoints that would be useful to have. This tracks the addition of the /history endpoint.

Describe the solution you'd like
Besides the obvious path parameter, the endpoint should support pagination. It should not restrict the paths just to files.

The response should be JSON representation of the History object, most importantly the HistoryEntry list therein.
