Module icp.ko needs unknown symbol strfree on kernel 3.10.0-1160.45.1.el7.x86_64.

While trying to update my system recently I've run into an issue that I can't figure out how to fix. When running yum update I got a warning when the new kernel was installing.

depmod: WARNING: /lib/modules/3.10.0-1160.45.1.el7.x86_64/weak-updates/icp.ko needs unknown symbol strfree

Reading about depmod a bit, I think that check might come from something like depmod -eF /boot/System.map-3.10.0-1160.45.1.el7.x86_64 3.10.0-1160.45.1.el7.x86_64 and it's saying the strfree symbol doesn't exist anywhere. My guess is that maybe that symbol used to be in the kernel and got removed, but I don't know enough about how kernel modules work to actually figure out what's going on.

After a reboot into that kernel, the zfs module isn't loaded.

modprobe -v zfs

insmod /lib/modules/3.10.0-1160.45.1.el7.x86_64/weak-updates/icp.ko
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'zfs': Exec format error

Checking dmesg is see.

icp: disagrees about version of symbol module_layout

I tried uninstalling and re-installing ZFS. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the new kernel. I can't seem to get it working. If I boot back into 3.10.0-1160.21.1 things work as expected.

Does anyone have any suggestions I could try?

This started working with kernel 3.10.0-1160.49.1.el7.x86_64.

Kernel 3.10.0-1160.45.1.el7.x86_64:

depmod -eF /boot/System.map-3.10.0-1160.45.1.el7.x86_64 3.10.0-1160.45.1.el7.x86_64

depmod: WARNING: /lib/modules/3.10.0-1160.45.1.el7.x86_64/weak-updates/icp.ko needs unknown symbol strfree

Kernel 3.10.0-1160.49.1.el7.x86_64:

depmod -eF /boot/System.map-3.10.0-1160.49.1.el7.x86_64 3.10.0-1160.49.1.el7.x86_64

The depmod command finishes with no warnings, the zfs module loads, and everything works.
