Maltitol and Sorbitol are polyols, and should be treated as such #10759

Some products are mentioning polyols with their specific names, eg.

  • here, the nutrient facts mention Maltitol 83g
  • here, the nutrient facts mention Sorbitol 10.1g.

Maltitol and Sorbitol are polyol:

When data quality errors are computed, the given product triggers an error because it does not recognize Maltitol and Sorbitol as polyols.

In the US at least, maltitol should be counted as a sugar alcohol, which itself should be counted in the carbohydrates:
