There is an option to expand the search to all courses.

For the MVP, let's stick to just the current course and all courses.
MVP Scope:
Users should be able to conduct free-text keyword searches in order to find content in their courses.
Users should be able to conduct tag-driven searches in order to find content in their courses.
Users should be able to conduct basic boolean searches.
From the search interface on the course outline page:
The default search experience includes the course that corresponds to the course outline page that the user is currently on.
There is an option to expand the search to all courses.
From the search results listing:
Search results cover sections, subsections, units and components, with most relevant results displaying first.
Users can refine results by: section; subsection; unit; text; video; problem.
