User story: As a course author, I may need to make changes to Library content in my course, so ensure it reflects specific needs for my course. I want the freedom to make any local changes required, but I want to be reminded that I am editing Library content when I do so, in order to avoid mistakes.

Requirements:

  • Users are able to change any fields or content in a Library component locally. This includes the title, content in the text or problem editor, and all CAPA problem configurations.
  • When a user clicks "edit" for any library block in a course, they see a warning message overlaid on the editor. This warning message states "You are editing content from a Library. Edits made here will only be reflected in this course. These edits may be overridden later if updates are accepted. See the Sync Page for more details."

Image

  • In the warning message, there is a button "View in Library". When a user clicks this button, the Library containing the content opens in a separate tab, with the component sidebar for the corresponding content open.
  • The warning message persists as users make changes in the editor.
  • Users can hit "save" and the local changes are applied to the content.
  • The connection/link between the library content and the local version remains in tact.
