Svelve with Typical User Interaction

I am interested in the possible use of Svelvet with an interactive diagramming tool, but I'd like to understand how it would work for us.

1. I have seen only static diagrams in use, so I am not sure if that's an intended limitation. I saw the demo for interactive nodes, but I can't find a way to create new nodes or connect edges of existing nodes with lines:

From our perspective, there would be one or more toolbars from which diagram elements could be dragged and dropped. Users should be able to dynamically connect nodes with lines and label the lines if desired. Is Svelvet meant for this kind of use? Is there an example of how this would be done?

2. Can nodes be styled in several practical ways? Consider: (a) hard corners rather than rounded; (b) bold text and normal; (c) a very large number of nodes and lines that perform as well as do a few nodes and lines (thousands).
