After a bit of auditing all of our channels, here are some suggestions I think we should do instead of just adding something to the website (since it already has links to the discord, github, and open collective).
Clean up Discord to be more clear:
Have ‘start here’ channel at the top
Ensure channel has a streamlined message about how to get involved:
OMI About and Values
AngelXR and OMI collab
Official Links
Get started steps
Find a working group or task you want to be involved in
Join the weekly meetings
Explore the Github/discord discussions
Share suggestions on what we can do better (need feedback channel)
Clean up Github to emphasize actionable steps:
Make the Omigroup repo standout more
More action steps
Emphasize or replace backlog with task list/board
Jazz up the website to be more exciting:
Put interesting projects from the community
Revisit friends/partnerships addition
Move 3D space somewhere more visible
Turn the 3D space into more of a neighborhood with portals/booths of various projects and ideas
Ask people how/why they got involved with OMI to see where people are falling off:
What did they notice?
Where did they come from?
What have they seen? (Github, website, discord channels?)
What would they like have seen to feel more confident about getting involved?
can we add more info to the website about "how to get started with OMI"
