The repo is huge. Currently around 400 MB. There is really no need to keep the full ObsPy history around especially since most documents do not even have a history in the first place.

Rebasing it in the right way would significantly reduce the size of the repository.

@krischer I filtered the original repo again (I missed some directories in filtering..) and have a much smaller version of 8f27b22 now (before the new changes since yesterday, 80MB instead of 200MB). What's the best option to put the new commits on top of the changed old history? Is it even possible (I wasn't able to find out how)?

I could get the size down by about 80MB. History had to be changed and force-pushed. I think it doesn't get smaller than this easily..
