Fill in and update KY precincts #204
Comments
@bahoo thanks for the assist and update! |
I’ve also been told the Legislative Research Commission would have a statewide set. I’m calling them tomorrow. https://legislature.ky.gov/Pages/contactus.aspx |
They came through with the 2010 statewide file, but didn't have a more up to date one to offer. This will fill in some holes, but I'm still going to see what I can do about getting some that are more up to date... |
Oh, clarifying what are probably some confusing comments from earlier — looks like I might be running into a QGIS bug on my end. Those counties are in the data set, but those precincts go missing unless I select them specifically: ( This screenshot shows similar behavior: #29 (comment) ) So the state's complete ( circa 2014, per #103 ), but some counties have updated since then. I'll focus on that, then. Also tagging #29 for good measure as it has some other Kentucky notes. |
Barren River's ADD came through too: BRADD_Precincts.gdb.zip 2019, presumably. This includes:
I'll get this set, and others, into the Makefile script once I get all that I'm able to get. |
Just adding an issue to track my own progress ( and to potentially assist future research efforts down the road ) on updating a few Kentucky counties:
I reached out to a few counties, and what I discovered is that Kentucky local governments lean on this regional government entity, Area Development Districts, for GIS services. This helps smaller counties that don't have dedicated services by pooling those into regional hubs: http://www.kcadd.org/
I've reached out to see about filling some of those gaps, potentially wit a single file if it's available. I'll follow up with my progress.
