Dear Alpha Testers,
@jfhquick very helpfully provided a test bed and assistance to investigate DBBC3 TPI inversions (USB vs LSB, cal-on vs cal-off). Thanks @jfhquick for all your help and insights.
I have tagged 10.2-alpha3. The update notes can be found at 10.2-alpha3. Previous Alpha Testers will particularly need the new step: Update control files. This version should handle the TPI inversions for all but a small number of firmware releases. In particular, there may be some issues for early releases of DDC_V v124. A method has been provided for dealing with these situations (see below). This version also includes support for DDC_E and several other enhancements.
I have not yet been able to test the handling of TPI inversions for fivpt and onoff. It would help if you test them and/or arrange antenna time for me to test them. At a minimum we should test the following cases:
Cal polarity
0
:$
s)Cal polarity
2
:$
s)Any polarity:
The behavior may be different by firmware personality, version, and release. It would be good to test as many as we can. The FS should work for most releases, but a set of environment variables can be used to handle unusual situations. They are described at DBBC3 specific environment variables. For now, you can test without using any of the variables. If you don't get a good result right away, I would like to work with you to resolve the situation. In particular,
DDC_V,124,November 07 2019
for polarity2
(only Onsala VGOS?) may need some variables set. At this point, it is not clear if environment variables will be the long term solution for these issues. The goal for now is to make it possible to handle the situation in the field while we learn more about it.Thanks, Ed
