Open questions on the FSEP

Hi,

I've read through the FSEP, and after reading it I had a lot of questions still, and aspects that I felt were missing from the proposal. Please note that I think you're work is very important, and that I greatly appreciate that you are working on this.

Vetted providers

• What is the proposed mechanism to become a vetted provider of deny lists?
• What are the functional requirements to apply to become a vetted provider of a deny list?
• Which people will be responsible for selecting providers of deny lists? What is the accountability process for this work?
• Will there be a mechanism for a vetted provider of a deny list to be 'de-selected' if certain standards are not upheld?
• Can the server of a vetted provider of a deny list be included in the deny list of another vetted provider?
• If not, what does the process look like if this happens?
• If yes, how does this feed into the required standards of becoming/being a vetted provider in the first place?

Deny list criteria:
These questions concern a vetted provider, if they want to include a server on a deny list

• Do vetted providers need to give receipts of why a server is included on a deny list
  • if yes, who gets to see the receipts?
• Are there requirements for vetted providers to include servers on their deny list?
• Is transitive blocking a valid reason for including a server on a deny list? ("your server does not block this specific very bad server, so you should be blocked for this")
  • If yes: does this need to be applied consistently, so that every server who does not block the very bad server automatically gets added to the deny list?
    • note: this is not a hypothetical point. Currently The Bad Space lists mastodon.social as a block because it does not block mstdn.io. Other servers who also do not block mstdn.io are not listed as a block on The Bad Space
    • if yes: is there a requirement or expectation for regular servers to make their deny list public?
  • If yes: what are the requirements for servers get the status of 'VERY BAD SERVER' such that transitive blocking becomes a valid reason for being included in the deny list

Appeals

If a server is included on a deny list, and someone feels that this incorrect:

• What does the appeal process looks like? The FSEP does not mention this.
• What is the priority of adding this process?
• To whom is the appeal made? The creator of the deny list, or to The Bad Space?
• Is there arbitrage in case of a continued disagreement after the appeal is considered?
• Who can appeal? Only the admin of the denied server, the mod team of the denied server, everyone on the denied server, or even broader?
