Recently it was remarked that our clear issues of things to work on make pitching in a lot easier. Specifically, this issue was mentioned: #61.
My rough mental model for these is loosely based on working backwards it's as follows:
what is the finished thing, 1 paragraph
why does it need to exist, as in what impact will it have on nimskull, inspire the contributor, 1 paragraph
how start to use the finished thing, 1-3 paragraphs/example
additional details, examples, drawings, etc
FAQ & references
All throughout, keep it brief and language tight, if there are a lot of detours and gotchas it's either not ready, not a good idea, or things need to go into the FAQ.
Moreover, even before the issue, discussions and what not can use the above form shortly evolving different parts through review. This is precisely what happened in the #60 discussion.
Only area for improvement for a first cut might be questions to ask for specific situations or types of change:
reacted with thumbs up emoji reacted with thumbs down emoji reacted with laugh emoji reacted with hooray emoji reacted with confused emoji reacted with heart emoji reacted with rocket emoji reacted with eyes emoji
