Disable Default Letter Workspaces

Tried my best to search for similar issues, maybe this is a simple config option with different wording but...

I copy/pasted the "like i3" config and all seems mostly good except there's a ton of extra workspaces auto bound to certain letters.

I am not specifying these in the config (that I can tell), I only have the default i3 config which only defines 1-10. I can't tell where they are coming from or how to disable them, but the biggest issue is that because of this, alt + any of these letters is stuck highjacked as a keybind. So I can't use alt-v or alt-r and other common binds since using those instead goes to the letter space even if I define them as something else in the config.

Removing the keybindings from the config remove these from being listed in menu for me.
