Omnes cuiuscunque notae auctores, praesul reverendissime, quos
hactenus videre contigit, nullum opus, qualecunque id esset, sine
dedicatione ediderunt, causam opinor esse livorem ac
vitiligationem, amplum sane malum, et quod ne divinis quidem
ingeniis pepercit: hinc Zoilus ille Homericus, hinc notissimum
adagium <q>arbor suspendio eligenda</q>, cuius mali hoc unum remedium non
illa solum nunquam satis laudata antiquitas, sed nostra etiam
tempora antiquitatis pertinaciter aemula esse censuerunt.
Emissurus itaque epithalamium in nuptias invictissimi ac
felicissimi Pannoniarum ac Boemiae regis Vladislai et serenissimae
reginae Annae Candaliae multum diuque dubitavi, cuius praesidio
tutissime in medium prodiret, nec ullus sane magis idoneus te uno
se mihi offerre potuit, qui nobilitate paterna splendidissimus
maternum genus ab illo regum omnium principe Matthia ducis, qui
annos decem et octo natus episcopatu Chienadiensi insignitus
fuisti, quae dignitas licet ampla admodum sit et vix ulla ex parte
regia celsitudine inferior, tamen, si quis eam cum exactissimis
animi tui dotibus conferre velit, non episcopatum tibi, sed te
episcopatui ornamento esse procul dubio inveniet. Accedit his
eximia Latinae linguae cognitio, quam annis quinque continuis in

patet, quod inter omnes regni Pannonii episcopos ac proceres unus

rebus maximis ac dificilimis ageres. Haec itaque quum in te vero
veriora unusquisque agnoscat, visum est hoc qualecunque opusculum
meae summae erga celsitudinem tuam observantiae testem offerre,
quod si tibi acceptum erit, mecum praeclarissime actum existimabo
