The display then warps back to seem like you're looking at the top level network (A). But actually you're still within the network viewer for B (which you can see if you minimize the warped network viewer, which will put you back in B). This causes all kinds of weird display problems once this occurs.
Note that it is the double-maximization that triggers this. If you omit step 4 above, everything works as it should.
