@ncase In German, we distinguish between a singular 'you' and a plural 'you'. Do you want the the main character Nicky to talk to an audience or the individual reader? In the school scenes I figure it has to be singular, since Nicky is talking to the girl, is that right?

I'm asking because when I read the English version, it felt like Nicky is talking to me/the girl alone, but there are phrases like "That's all, folks!" hinting at an audience.

@stellingsimon Good question, I haven't thought about that! I think it should be a singular-you, you-the-individual-reader. (Since, in Chapter 3, I ask what you want to learn, and what's your why)

"That's all, folks!" is mostly just a reference to Looney Tunes

Huh, that's really strange, given that Ebbinghaus and Leitner are both German! If you compare the English & German pages for SuperMemo, that may give a hint of what at least one Spaced Repetition app uses as the translation: https://www.supermemo.com/en https://www.supermemo.com/de

Also, looking at Wikipedia, it turns out there's a German word for Leitner Box! https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lernkartei That's super cool! (currently my code is hacky, and looking for the string "Leit" or "Liet" to detect if you picked the Leitner Box as your "how", but later I'll edit it to include "Lernkartei" as well, if you so choose to translate Leitner Box that way)

Same for Portuguese. I will look for good terms on my native language, but for other translators, some wikipedias already have a term for that, so Nick comments like this one should be useful.

There may already be "official" translations for terms like "Spaced Repetition" or "Forgetting Curve"!
Go to their Wikipedia pages, scroll down to "Languages" in the left sidebar, and if your language is there,
click on that Wikipedia page, and use the "official" translated term there.

Agreed, super-strange. Looking at the SuperMemo website, I conclude:

• EN: Spaced Repetition
• DE: Wiederholungen in regelmäßigen Abständen

I don't mean to brag, but my language is bigger than yours. ;-)

Seriously though, German is a nightmare. Since I still can't find a term that would fit in any of the speech bubbles, I asked a question on StackExchange.

Yes, I will use "Lernkartei" (literally: learning file), since that is more commonly known than "Leitner-Box".

@ncase One more thing: check out the preview... In the title, due to the 0.75em line-height for .divider > #divider_container > #chapter_name, the umlauts from Ä in GEDÄCHTNIS pop into the first line, which it looks like the title starts with a single-word sentence 'DER.' (THAT.) Very unfortunate.

I need 0.9em to make the lines properly discernable in the presence of umlauts, but that will affect all languages. Should I just go ahead and do it or will that lead to another problem somewhere else?

@stellingsimon maybe try use <style>...css here...</style> tag on the /de.html file, like https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/style instead of changing the default CSS. I am not yet adapting the visual of the Portuguese translation, but I know the heading will need some changes and extra testing on mobile devices.

and wow, that StackExchange forum on Portuguese Language have great answers. I will consider make it there. Maybe I will just wait a bit more to see if I will have even more doubts.
