The initial implementation was setup only for push to avoid the need to open more ports on the node server, but @PlasmaPower has suggested we allow the pull option as well for a more passive approach.

We continue to have the push gateway for the beta/test setup fail and as a single point of failure it prevents data collection at that point for all machines. We should look into switching over to the pull option and see if that helps avoid the stability issues we've been seeing. Thoughts @argakiig ?
