I'm currently doing some lab tests to use xenserver with a ceph pool as storage.
If I understand correctly your hack uses one RBD for the whole SR. So it's still relaying on vhd system for snapshots etc.
What about pushing things further and have the ceph pool as a SR and then create an RBD for each vm disks, so it can profit of built in ceph functions (snapshotting etc).
Any thought about it ? Wouldn't it be great so we can get rid of the vhd limitations ?
I guess it would need to rewrite quite a lot of storage functions but wouldn't it be worth it?
