Wow, this is from forever ago (also this repo no longer powers getminimalist.com).

If I remember correctly, the idea was to persist all the lists they'd visited recently, and surface them in the UI. Then you had a sort of "fallback" set of lists in case they didn't remember the exact url they used before.
