When pressing the button on the rotary encoder, mute doesn't work

Steps to reproduce:

  1. play something on the chromecast
  2. press the button

expected: the volume is muted and the display, if enabled, shows "MUTE"
actual: you press the button, the display, if enabled, shows "MUTE", but the volume isn't muted. pressing it again seems to mute it, but the volume is shown instead of "MUTE" on the screen
