Currently if bumping the version fails once (perhaps because a developer doesn't have the plugin installed #6), it will also fail the next time because it won't find the current version in the file when it's doing a search and replace.

It would be very useful to configure that the version bump has to happen, and if it doesn't, that's an error because something has clearly gone wrong.
