Setup

• get and verify WP admin creds to live site
• ask if they have a staging site
• get and verify FTP creds
• get sample PDF
• get mini logo
• get larger logo
• get cover featured image --> they said to just use any from the website
• fork basic print design
• replace "sample-easy-design" with "focus-kaposg"
• create template for imprint

Design Requirements

• two page design: left-hand has footer text aligned left and right-hand has footer text aligned right.
• footer is metadata "short name" ("kaponews") and metadata "issue"
• give status update
• find fonts (or request them)
• cover:
• org name in top-left corner,
• small logo in top-right,
• image fills,
• overlaid with "kapo | news | [issue] | Jahrgang 83"),
• then at the bottom of the image is metadata [issue preview] text with a semi-transparent screen behind,
• and big logo in bottom-right corner department name in footer "Sicherheits- und Justizdepartement"
• imprint template:
• green-y left area (fill left and top margin but only goes down to match text on right),
• then text on right,
• same top as cover except just not so much space
• TOC like in sample, but without pictures:
• title at top left
• only main matter
• article names then page number immediately (no leader)

• maybe bold full-width excerpt
• two column
• last page always the same
• big logo in exact middle of page
• then have body content, a little indented, aligned to bottom
• ensure images can be aligned to the bottom
• add author name etc
• front matter doesn't use excerpts
• strong and bs are green
• title page missing "Sicherheits- und Justizdepartement" in footer; this also appears on the backmatter page

PDF issues:

• main image should overflow into the margin
• kapo new isn't bold enough --> change header font from helvetica to helvetica 75 or 95 bold
• 2nd page green area should be 2/3 the size, and start on page edge; align with bottommost text
• icon on 2nd page should be 2/3 the size
• header on 2nd page should be bolder
• subheadings should be green instead of black and have text immediately following
• TOC doesn't show page numbers
• TOC text should be black
• TOC shouldn't have bulletpoints
• top margin should be 1.5x bigger than side margins; bottom footer should be about 1.5x that, so the footer text has the same distance from teh side and side margins
• first and last page footers should use "special_footer_text"
• last page footer getting overridden by normal righthand page footer
• footer text should be grey, except page number
• last page takes up 2 pages, it should be on 1;
• last page logo image should be half their size
• last page bottom text should be bolder and greener, except the last line; have an extra inch margin
• last page should have the same footer as the very first page ("Sicherheits- und Justizdepartement") which should maybe be part of the design
• article introductory text is from custom field
• author section is custom field
• using pmb-wide makes images too big for page --> it seems the problem was Prince CSS didn't recognize the CSS selectors I was using, but when I used JS pmb_resize_images(1000), which sets a few inline styles, like setting the width n stuff, it worked

Qs for Florian:

• where does excerpt text (like on page 6 of sample, under title) come from?

Might Not Matter:

• top-left title isn't as bold as sample. Use provided fonts
• first and last page footers should be aligned to the left a bit more

Later:

• TOC should have images on the left, set them in the project metadata

Deployment:

• double-check activating the design plugin doesn't have errors
• create zip of design plugin using git
• upload design plugin via plugin uploader
• copy design settings from local
• create a sample project
• add some metadata to the posts (for the standdeck and author area)
• send sample to Florian with instructions
