If self-updating functionality isn't possible, having a quit command would allow server owners to make scripts that check for updates before running the server again.

A quit command? Like something that allows administrators to close the server from within the server? Perhaps that could be done.

Not sure how an auto-update would work. When I run my servers, I run the server processes as systemd services, and I have a script that does a git pull from this repository, rebuilds the code with 'cargo build --release' and restarts the servers. But that is obviously not very automatic.

It would download latest release and check dates for the exe's or whatever. Something like this https://redd.it/6oe935

Don't know if there is a permanent link to latest release though.
