  • VSCode Version: 1.97.1
  • Local OS Version: Windows_NT arm64 10.0.26100
  • Remote OS Version: Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS
  • Remote Extension/Connection Type: WSL

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Install WSL Ubuntu (also tested Debian)
  2. Open VS Code in WSL
  3. Install Code Spell Checker extension on remote (same problem occurs with R extension, but there are more configuration settings involved there. Filing here since multiple extensions seem to be affected.)
  4. Launch Spell checker REPL
  5. The newly created terminal does not receive focus (the tab opens in the background)
  6. Launching the Javascript Debug Terminal, for example, does not have this issue.
