It might be difficult to offer a suitable definition of the word "registry", since there is more than just the default registry available at https://github.com/Microsoft/vcpkg . I see in the sidebar menu of the documentation that it is possible for users to define their own custom vcpkg registries, so this might blur the matter somewhat.
But it seems to me that since the entire system is built on top of this "registry" concept, there should at least be an attempt to define the word. I find it a bit puzzling that no attempt to define it has been made, and I don't find anybody else making a note of this either. Perhaps I just haven't found it yet.
