Installed but won't run

After installation, the command:
$ mssql-scripter

gives the message:
/usr/bin/python: No module named mssqlscripter

I have the following files:
./.local/bin/mssql-scripter
./.local/lib/python3.8/site-packages/mssqlscripter

However, ./.local/lib/ is not on my PATH, which I assume is the problem, but I don't know how to correct it since:
./.local/lib/python3.8/site-packages/mssqlscripter is a directory, and
/usr/bin/python is a link to a shared library

Any advice on how to correct the problem would be appreciated.
