• pnp-modern-search-parts-<version_number>.sppkg (Mandatory).

Extensions (i.e. custom web components, layouts, etc.) must be deployed separately. See PnP Modern Search - Extensibility samples for more information.

@wobba @FranckyC - I confirmed the following today in a tenant:

4.6.1 tenant deployed. Activated app on site1. As expected, I verified I could add web parts using the page authoring tools (i.e. web parts were available from gallery with page in edit mode).

4.7.0 subsequently tenant deployed. Activated app on site2. I verified that the search web parts were not available upon activation in Site2 (they remained activated and available in Site1).

4.8.0 subsequently tenant deployed (this version). Activated app on Site3. I verified I could add web parts using the page authoriing tools on Site3, I could still NOT on Site2. I then removed the app from Site2, and then added it back. I confirmed that I was then able to add the Search web parts in Site2 using the page authoring tools.

So, to summarize, it looks like 4.8.0 does appear to resolve the feature activation issue from the added feature node which was subsequently removed with this update: 9d8584a

I'm currently still using version 1.0. Are there directions somewhere on how to upgrade my version to 4.8?

As per the documentation there is not upgrade path from version 3.* to 4.*
You will have to scan you tenant for search web parts and replace those which are needed.
I am pretty sure that I once made a PowerShell script that added the App on the sites and added the web parts on specific pages. Such a script will make the upgrade a wee bit less painful.
