In addition to direct writing on metaboards in VR with the chalk tool, there should be special board pairs with a "normal" board of a natural size for the VR speaker and a "big" board which mirrors it at a large scale. There should be some kind of "big ghost" that mirrors the movements of the VR speaker at the larger scale.

I'm in favour of the platforms option over this + Shadows of Computation size boards. You step onto it and it can move up and down like a scissor lift.
