Workflow questions surrounding set and pop marks

Before using meow I used default keybindings, and used marks a lot for navigation.
Due to the nature of marking as you move, the mark-ring gets flooded with a lot of small movements, making it useless for navigation.

What are good alternatives for this type of navigation?

The xref stack can be used when using goto definition, but when jumping around in the buffer with search?
I guess pushing marks to registers is one way to go.

This bothers me as well, I personally use meow-grab as a solution, you create an empty secondary selection, then pop to it later. A potential improvement is we manipulate the mark-ring, and only keep those used for operations.

That solves my immediate issue, just need to find a good key to throw it on.

For a longer term solution it would be nice to be able to use the mark rings.
I think evil implements its own, which doesn't feel like a suitable solution for meow.

Is it possible to make selections without pushing them to the mark ring?
Or maybe clear it every next movement? Like 'e' pushes the mark and makes the selection, another 'e' removes the previous mark and push the new one. Though I can se how that could be annoying, e.g. how do you know the last mark was from a meow motion?
