Advanced: Sidebar tab to integrate external Apps/Websites in the UI

This feature proposal suggests adding a new tab in the sidebar for integrating external applications directly in Chatbot UI. This tab would display menu items with name and icon in the sidebar for each app, which could be manually added by users or pre-defined by the admin.

Details

It would involve embedding websites via an iframe within the main UI or opening them in a new browser tab/window. This feature, especially when enhanced with SSO, would streamline user workflows and centralize various tools within the Chatbot UI environment.

UI

The main sidebar area where the actual apps are selected should be as narrow as the sidebar's tabs area to save horizontal space and thus to allow displaying the apps in a reasonable size.

Examples

• StableStudio, OpenDevin, or similiar self-hostable AI apps could be integrated as they're thematically related.
• The Memos app or something similiar could be set up as tool / data source in Chatbot UI, then it could also be added as integrated app for conveniently managing the relevant content.
• The proposed Dashboard could also be placed in this area, pinned above the other apps.

Potential Future Enhancements

• "Favorites / Starred items" feature for the apps, so that the user can give specific ones priority
• Allow admins to pin apps, so that they always appear above the user favorites and other apps
• Implementation of Single Sign-On (SSO) capabilities to streamline access to the apps (if selfhosted)
