i think that it would be great for the materials genome foundation to begin having events to increase brand awareness and start seeding the community we hope to support. most of the next generation workforce is sequestered from the their global peers because of infrequent and resource prohibitive in-person events.
our goal is to establish a digital community of open materials scientists. demo friday would be our first event that is open to materials scientist that would like to share their work. we can formulate a structure for the event, but, ultimately, it is a low stakes safe place to share on going work. its value is that somebody is around EVERY friday to hear about emerging scientists special interests.
this event will provide practice for MGF in moderating an open community and more opportunity for dislocated materials scientists to commune.
