Is there a plan to remove/replace jQuery?

Hello,

I read the docs/projects, but wasn't able to find anything about plans to remove jQuery. Made me wonder if this is even on the radar. If so, I'd like to help because would like to use this library in projects. The jQuery dependency is a deal breaker, if there isn't a plan, recommend considering it,

Tell me if I'm wrong but Jquery is not a dependency since v1.0 ?

Materialize supports component initialization using vanilla JavaScript or using Jquery for backboard compatibility. This means you should be able to use the minified version of materialize without needing Jquery in your project

I will check it again later today, when I was testing the library yesterday, it got bundled after building for production (even when I didn't use it to initialize components). And I saw it in the list of dependencies, so that's why I thought it was still required. This is good news though, thanks for the reply 🎉

JQuery is not required, but there is a small version of it inside the code...so maybe we can remove that to make it lighter after all.... but it would be much work and i dont know if it is worth it. Greets
