How to allow overlapping subtitle blocks?

Is there a way to enable bilangual subtitle blocks? Like these:

Currently, the tool does this:

Please notice how the japanese part is just pushed behind the first block in time, giving it 0s length.

Or in other words, is there a way to allow overlapping subtitle blocks?
