Completed Tasks in nested TODOs getting rolled over

I have TODOs that are nested under a heading. When I create a new daily note complete TODOs get rolled over along with the incomplete TODOs. Are nested TODOs not supported or is this a formatting issue?

I like being able to see the completed nested TODOs along with any incomplete nested TODOs. For my use case, this means that I have a view of the historical work (completed nested TODOs) along with my incomplete nested TODOs.
