Stage Lock action can be assigned but does not work

If you assign Stage Lock to a button on joystick or keyboard, the game does not recognize it.
When I assign another action to the key or button, it works so the button is recognised.
The game also accepts the stage lock command from [alt] + L , just not from buttons assigned via AFBW
