Glad to have found this place. Familiar with sunxi, as I was an OG Pine64 Kickstarter backer. As a kid I was fascinated with hacking. I had my own desktop since 5 years old, Win3.1. By 11 I am teaching myself VB6(thank you Rampage Toolz). I got interested in game trainers/cracking/reversing. No formal teaching beyond AP Computer Science in High School (Java).
So, for a long time I have been slowly teaching myself a bit of EE/RE. My target of choice: Aughts-era Digital Picture Frames. (LOL!) The main reason is that there isn't a ton of information on these, they're cheap, everywhere, and I had 2 on hand that I did not mind destroying.
I did destroy them... but learned so much before that point, and wanted to push further.
The first DPF I found with an active, easy to spot UART was the Digital Decor DPF720, running off an MStar MSPD21D. Until today, the UART was the only inspiring thing about that device, as I could find little to no information on the chip. But, along this journey, I've gotten good at picking out unique strings that get me past whatever dead-end I have found myself at. A search for "CHIPTOP 0x03" led me here, to the light. I have already learned SO MUCH, just today.
So, I just wanted to say hi, and thank you all for contributing here.
