Some ideas for additional chapters #22
Comments
This all sounds fantastic! I would love to see chapters on any/all of these topics. We havent got any firm plans on these ideas yet. We should work out ways for multiple people to contribute though. A couple of areas I would like to contribute:
Yes, some fundamental radar theory would be great. |
Hey Ben! Sorry for the delay on my end. I've got some brief notes on ice crystals as they relate to ice fabric & birefringence in #21 that could follow your discussion of ice crystal structure and behavior really nicely. Would be happy to collaborate on a firn compaction section if you're up for it. The firn review paper that came out of last year's firn symposium workshop will be out shortly and could be a good source for this. Agreed would love to see some radar basics, and then branch out from there into what kinds of radars are used to observe what processes & why. |
@benhills, any more thoughts on if/what you would like to contribute? Would be great to have any of this material in there! |
I read through your book! I love it, such a cool idea.
I probably won't contribute quickly, but I would love to claim some material which I can sit on for a while and think about how best to write.
Here are some chapters which I think could be useful:
I wouldn't even feel comfortable writing all these sections, but trying to gauge your vision on some of this.
I think that the radar sections have potential to be a present-day form of the radioglaciology textbook. I wonder if starting with some general radar theory is useful? Radar power equation and stuff like that.
Maybe @glugeorge or @Elizabethcase are already working on some of this? I really don't want to crowd anyone out, or to make any promises really (I will probably be quite slow to contribute). Still, I think it is a fun idea for a community project.
