only for group chats
only next to first message for "consecutive" messages

I know-you are not a Fan of avatars (for incomming messages) in Single Chat view.

I still like it and don't think it's not wasted space (for me).
I like it as a separator for incomming and outgoing messages.

Maybe you could it make to a userpreference?
If you like, off by default?

Of course I will accept if you think it's to much work or other reason for take it not.

But...
If you implement it, I will react with thumb up ;-)
