I've read that it's possible to login to ghcr via GITHUB_TOKEN variable which is in every gh pipeline. Why stiil use personal access token?

I did not fully understand your question; you can use the GITHUB_TOKEN that is provided in the workflow. You need to set the correct permissions.

Is there anything that is not working on your side? can you give any examples?

The action uses ${{github.token}} which is equivalent to GITHUB_TOKEN, so there are no PATs needed. Let me know if there's an improvement to the documentation that would make this clearer.
