Issue Tag Cleanup?

We have quite a few unused and duplicate tags for new issues.

For example, there are three "good-first-issue" tags.

Does anyone know where I can read documentation about automation tied to these tags, so we can know which can be deleted and what the consequences would be?

Due to lack of response I unilaterally removed several duplicates and some clearly unused tags.
