It is more of a nuance that the area between two buttons becomes highlighted after clicking to rapidly. Something to look into if you need something to do.

This is related to the often reported issue that zoom in/out can't be turned off. It happens when the zoom button loses focus of the mouse, i.e., you move off the zoom button, before it is mouse button released.
