Clarification please

Hi,
I have my new HIK ECI-D24F2 ip cam streaming to Unifi-video. In the Read.me file here on github, it says motion detection is working. I need some clarification please, does the HIK cam do the detection (and thus I need to add a MicroSD card) or is it done by Unifi-video?
By the way, thanks for the proxy; it works well.
